Leslye, it sounds like a rollercoaster year. I remember my divorce and my new apartment with two $6 white plastic chairs for living room furniture. Wishing you strength for the hard and gratitude for the good. So few writers can say what you can: "I can go into a bookstore and pick up a book that I wrote from the shelf." Our brains have a negativity bias (to keep us safe!). I have to remind myself, "What, right now, is good?" There's always something good. 🌞

I am sorry, Leslye, for the hardships you faced this year. May 2024 be a gentler one. While endings are difficult and saddening, they are also a beginning for something greater. I have no doubt there is greatness waiting for you. Stay strong and be patient.

Leslie, somehow you poignantly described my last 5 years. I think I'm going to print this out and paste it into my journal. Every time in the next 12 months that I need a gentle direction to get life back to feeling joy and hope, there will be your words to touch my heart and inspire me, over and over. I'm indebted to you. For some reason I was directed to your piece, here. It feels providential ,almost.

I feel sad that you endured what you did last year. You can be proud of following the recipe of what it takes to heal, even if a victory is merely getting out of bed. Your words have described and surely inspired many lives in our human condition.

Now I need to look for your work. May you have a prosperous 2024 and may your work enjoy worldly success. On a personal note, may your work and your process to do it feed your soul, as much as it feeds those of others.

Smile reading this, feeling my gratitude, which is inspired by you..

Linda

Thank you so much for sharing, Linda. I'm so honored that the post resonated so deeply with you. I think our vulnerability really connects and shows us that so many of our experiences that feel so isolating are really shared.❤️
